Canadian IB students
Admission requirements
An IB diploma satisfies UVic's admission requirements, assuming that you have completed three Higher Level courses and three Standard Level courses. Of course, specific admission requirements and grade cut offs vary by faculty and program, so please consult the UVic Calendar for more detailed information. If you are completing both IB and another curriculum (e.g., BC Ministry of Education diploma) we will evaluate admissibility using the best case scenario.
Early admission offers
One of the advantages of being a step ahead in high school as an IB student is a competitive edge when it comes to early UVic admission offers. Early offers help put your mind at ease when it comes to planning your future so you can enjoy the last year of high school without worrying about your post-secondary options.
If you have a predicted score of at least 28 (including bonus points) and are likely to achieve a final grade of four or higher on each of your three Higher Level and three Standard Level courses, self-report your grades to UVic online after you apply and receive your student number by email. Self-reporting is available for IB students from February 1 to March 31.

Advanced Placement students
If you have completed an Advanced Placement course and have received a grade of 4 or 5 on the corresponding Advanced Placement examination, you will receive transfer credit for specific UVic courses. With a grade of 3, you will be granted advanced standing only.
Advanced standing allows you to register into a higher level of course work, but does not give you credit for UVic courses.
The College Entrance Examination Board must have administered your examination in 1989 or later.
Upon applying to the university, please request the AP examining board to send your AP results directly to Undergraduate Admissions:

IB transfer
credit
UVic is pleased to recognize your academic successes with one of the most thorough IB transfer credit programs in Canada. Furthermore, you are eligible to receive up to one full year of transfer credit if you meet our admission requirements. Basically, your IB coursework puts you one step closer to your post-secondary goals before even arriving at UVic.
If you’re an IB certificate student who has completed Higher Level subjects without completing the full diploma you are also eligible to receive transfer credit on a per course basis as detailed in our IB-UVic transfer guide.
