Undergraduate Bursary Eligibility

General Undergraduate Bursaries

 

Undergraduate Bursaries (Includes Continuing, Entrance and Transfer Students)

 

Undergraduate Students must:

 

  • be receiving the maximum student loans available for their period of study

  • attach a copy of all pages of their provincial student loan assessment to the bursary application

  • if their Canada student loan funding is from outside BC they will need to complete the budget section of the bursary application

  • be registered in a minimum of 4.5 units for credit in each term for which they are applying for funding

  • be registered in a minimum of 3 units for credit in each term if applying as a student with a permanent disability

  • be in good standing with the University of Victoria. Entering students are deemed eligible for the bursary based on their admissibility to UVic. For Continuing students, a minimum GPA of 3.5 in the previous academic session is required.

 

  • Note: Effective September 2006, in order to be eligible for UVic administered bursaries, continuing students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the previous academic session.

  • be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada

 

**Incomplete bursary applications will not be considered.

Application deadlines: June 1st for Summer Session (May - August).

October 15th for Winter Session (September - April).

A new application is required for each study period.

Undergraduate Child Care Bursaries

 

The UVSS (UVic Student Society) Child Care Bursaries are awarded to contibuting UVSS student members with demonstrated financial need based on British Columbia Student Assistance Program (BCSAP) standards and child care costs. Eligible services may include: Private Daycare, UVic Child Care and Babysitting Services.

**Incomplete bursary applications will not be considered

Undergraduate students applying for the UVSS Child Care Bursaries must:

  • Supply copies of all child care receipts or invoices
  • Be registered in at least 3 credit units of a degree program at the University of Victoria
  • Be in good academic standing

 

Students may apply for the UVSS Child Care Bursaries each term.

Application deadlines: September 30, January 31 and May 30.

Applications are available from the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office.

 

LOOKING FOR FUN ON A LIMITED INCOME ?

 

The L.I.F.E. (Leisure Involvement For Everyone) program assists individuals and families with low incomes to access Saanich Recreation programs and services. If you are a resident of Saanich and your combined gross family income falls below the Statistics Canada’s low income cut off, you and your children are eligible for passes. However, only the non-student members of your family will be eligible since fulltime students are not included in the program.

Glossary

Undergraduate: A student registered in an undergraduate faculty or in a program leading to a bachelor's degree or an undergraduate diploma.
   
Graduate: A student who has received a bachelor's degree or equivalent and who is enrolled in a program leading to a master's or doctoral degree.
   
Entrance: A student who is entering UVic directly from a Canadian secondary school.
   
Transfer: A student who is entering UVic directly from a college.
   
In-Course: A student who has already completed at least 9 units at UVic over two academic terms in the 12 months immediately preceding the up-coming fall semester and who will be returning to full-time studies.
