Bursaries
- Students may be considered for the following bursaries by completing the general bursary application. Only one application is necessary to be considered for all bursaries.
ITALIAN ASSISTANCE CENTRE BURSARY
Value: $250 | Number: 2
$250 to be granted annually to two needy students who have shown proficiency in the Italian language and who will be returning to the University of Victoria for further studies in Italian.

SPANISH AND LATIN AMERICA STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate students registered in the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies study abroad program, and who have completed Spanish 100B. Application forms are available from the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies, and must be submitted to the department by April 15th. For further information contact the department at spanit@uvic.ca.

Applications from students are NOT required for scholarships listed in this section.
Unless otherwise indicated, recipients are selected by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendations of the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies.
These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals and prizes.
Scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) are administered by the University of Victoria Foundation.
ARTES Y LETRAS SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student proceeding to the third or fourth year of a Major or Honours program in Spanish at the University of Victoria. In awarding the scholarship special consideration will be given to students showing special interest in Spanish art, art history, music or literature.
* THE DOROTHY AND ERNEST AYTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A number of scholarships are awarded to students completing first or second year in Hispanic and Italian Studies who are continuing in the program.
* PABLO CABANAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in second or third year who intend to continue studies in Spanish at the University of Victoria.
THE GOVERNMENT OF ITALY BOOK PRIZES
These prizes, the gift of the Italian Government through the Consulate in Vancouver, are awarded for excellence in Italian.
THE SPANISH GOVERNMENT BOOK PRIZES
A number of book prizes, the gift of the Spanish Government through the Embassy in Ottawa, are awarded to the best students in a senior Spanish course.
R.K STEWART SCHOLARSHIP IN HISPANIC AND ITALIAN STUDIES
A scholarship of $300 is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student returning from studies abroad to full time studies in the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies.
THE PRIZES OF THE AMBASSADOR OF SWITZERLAND TO CANADA
These book prizes will be awarded to an outstanding student of French language and literature, to a student with high standing in German, and to an outstanding student in Italian.
