- Students may be considered for the following bursaries by completing the general bursary application. Only one application is necessary to be considered for all bursaries.
* CRISWICK BURSARY IN ASTRONOMY

One or more bursaries are awarded to students entering fourth year in the astronomy program.
*ALBERT LOUCKS BURSARY

One or more bursaries are awarded to graduate students in each of the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Physics and the Faculty of Engineering.
* JANE SEABORNE BURSARY
Value: Varies | Number: Varies
One or more bursaries are awarded to female students in a major or honours program in Biology, Biochemistry and Microbiology, Chemistry, Earth and Ocean Sciences, or Physics and Astronomy. Preference will be given to students who are involved in intramural sports.
TALISMAN ENERGY BURSARY
Value: $2,000 | Number: 1
A bursary of $2,000 is awarded to a student continuing in one of the following areas of study: Commerce, Earth Sciences, Geography, Economics or Engineering.

Unless otherwise indicated, recipients are selected by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendations of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals and prizes.
Scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) are administered by the University of Victoria Foundation.
* THE JOHN L. CLIMENHAGA SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding undergraduate student who has completed the qualifying 200-level courses of an Honours or Major program in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
A scholarship is awarded to the first year student who achieves the highest standing in 3 units of first year Physics and who plans to take further courses in Physics at the University of Victoria. In the case of a tie, a recommendation will be made in consultation with the instructor(s) involved.
* HARRY AND MARTHA DOSSO SCHOLARSHIP IN PHYSICS
A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding student who has completed the qualifying 200-level or 300-level courses and is continuing in an Honours or Major Physics program. Preference will be given to a student in a combined program in Physics and Earth Sciences (Geophysics), or Physics and Ocean Sciences (Ocean Atmosphere Dynamics).
PHYSICS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to an academically outstanding undergraduate student majoring in Physics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
* THE ROBERT S. EVANS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding students who intend to continue their studies at the University of Victoria as follows:
a. One scholarship to a student in each of the programs: Child and Youth Care, Nursing and Social Work, on the recommendation of the respective Directors;
b. One scholarship to a student who has completed the qualifying 300-level courses for an Honours or Major program in Astronomy;
c. Two scholarships for award within the student body at large. If no suitable candidates can be found in categories (a) or (b), additional awards can be made in category (c).
*JOHN GOUDY SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding 4th year undergraduate student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
* THE DOROTHY HARPER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding student who has completed the qualifying 200-level or 300-level courses of an Honours or Major program in Physics or Astronomy.
THE DON INGHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship of $400 is awarded by the Victoria Newspaper Guild, Local 223, A.N.G., in memory of Don Ingham, widely known journalist and amateur astronomer. The scholarship is awarded to the best student in the qualifying 200-level courses of an Honours or Major Astronomy program, who is returning to the University of Victoria and planning to take further courses in Astronomy.
* B.W. PEARSE SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Four scholarships are awarded to third or fourth year students in an Honours or Majors program in the Departments of
Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics and Physics and Astronomy.
* PHYSICS RED SCHOLARSHIP
One or more scholarships awarded to students entering 4th year in Physics who achieved excellence in laboratory skills in the previous year.
PHYSICS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to an academically outstanding undergraduate student majoring in Physics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
* ALFRED AND ADRIANA POTVIN SCHOLARSHIP IN OCEAN SCIENCE
Scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding students in an Ocean Sciences Minor or the Combined Honours in Physics and Ocean Sciences (Ocean-Atmosphere Dynamics) program in the School of Earth & Ocean Sciences and the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
* TERRY T. ROBERTSON SCHOLARSHIP IN PHYSICS
A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding student who has completed the qualifying 200-level or 300-level courses of an Honours or Major program in Department of Physics and Astronomy.
* HARBHAJAN S. SANDHU SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship is awarded to a student with the highest first class grade point average who has completed the qualifying 300-level courses of an Honours or Major program in Physics.
SEASPAN INTERNATIONAL LTD. SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $500 is awarded to the student leading courses numbered 200 in any two of the following departments: Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, Physics. The winner must continue academic work at an approved university.
"STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD" PRIZE IN PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY
A Prize of $500 is awarded to the student with the highest grade in the most challenging undergraduate course in physics and astronomy. A second prize of $300 is awarded to the student with the second highest grade in the most challenging undergraduate course in physics and astronomy and a third prize of $200 is awarded to the student with the third highest grade in the most challenging undergraduate course in physics and astronomy. Determination of the most challenging undergraduate course will be made by the Physics and Astronomy Undergraduate Awards Committee in consultation with course instructors and approved by the Department Chair. The successful candidates, having completed the course with the three highest grades, will be selected by the same committee.
THE VICTORIA CENTRE OF THE ROYAL ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF CANADA BOOK PRIZE
A book prize up to the value of $100 selected by the recipient, is awarded to the student graduating with an Honours B.Sc. in Astronomy, with the highest graduating average, provided that this is at least a first class average. If no first class honours student is graduating, the prize may be awarded to an Astronomy Major or combined Astronomy and Physics Major (in case there is no suitable Astronomy Major) student. The recipient will be selected by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the appropriate faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
* MIRANDA WARD PHYSICS SCHOLARSHIP
One or more scholarships are awarded to students in the Physics Cooperative Education program.
DIRK YZENBRANDT ASTRONOMY SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding 4th year student in an Honours or Major program in Astronomy.
