The University of Victoria awards entrance scholarships to academically oustanding new students who have applied for admission and have an admission average of 85% and above (or a minimum of 32 IB points).
Each year UVic offers over $3 million in entrance scholarships, including one-time scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 and renewable scholarships of up to $26,000 payable over four years.

All successful scholarship recipients will be notified once a decision has been reached.
Who is eligible?
Candidates must be:
- A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
- An international student completing a Canadian secondary school diploma
- Entering their first year of an undergraduate degree program
- A current secondary school student or have graduated within the last two years and have not attended a post-secondary instutition
- Admitted to UVic and have a minimum final admission average of 85%

Self-Reporting your Grade 12 marks
Self-reporting grade 12 marks will permit UVic to automatically consider you for a marks based entrance scholarship.
To be considered for GPA based scholarships students must self-report their Grade 12 marks between February 01 - March 31st. International baccalaureate students, studying at a Canadian secondary school can self-report their IB marks on the self-reporting site as well. No separate application is required.
- Secondary school entrance students with an admission average of 85% or higher will be guaranteed a $1,000 entrance scholarship
- All self-reported grades will be verified against offical grades from your school
- If a student does not self-report their grade 12 marks, he/she will not be considered for any GPA based scholarships at a later date.
- Please do not enter 100% as a self-reported mark, unless it can be verified by a teacher, counsellor, or principal
*As early scholarship offers are based on self-reported marks, we will be reviewing final marks in August before finalizing the scholarship.
Canadian citizens outside of Canada:
Canadian citizens who are attending secondary school outside of Canada (at a recognized secondary school) cannot self-report their marks and must send in an interim grade 12 transcript to Student Awards & Financial Aid by March 31st to be assessed for any GPA based scholarships. Students in the International Baccalaureate Program need to send in predicted marks to be assessed for an IB scholarship. Transcripts sent after the deadline will not be eligible for GPA based scholarships.

Specific Criteria Scholarships (Application Required)
To be considered for entrance scholarships based on specific criteria students must complete the online entrance scholarship application between February 01 - May 15.
- For eligibility, please see above "Who is eligible?"
- Secondary school entrance students require an 85% admission average to be eligible for any entrance scholarships
- Mail any required supporting documentation to Student Awards & Financial Aid (see address below) by May 15th. Please remember to include your UVic ID and the name of the scholarship on all submissions.
- We will be reviewing final marks in August before issuing scholarship funds.
*Canadian citizens who are attending secondary school outside of Canada (at a recognized secondary school) can apply for the online entrance application following the same instructions as below.
Please note by submitting an application you will not be automatically considered for GPA based scholarships.

To access the application students need to:
- Have a NetLink ID (https://netlink.uvic.ca)
- Sign into your UVic My Page (www.uvic.ca - top right of page), using your UVic NetLink ID
- After signing in, click on the "My Page" link
- Click on left menu "Applicant Services", if you are not yet admitted to UVic, or Click on "Student Services", if you are an admitted student
- Select "View and apply for awards"
- Select the option dependent upon your current application status:

- View and modify current award applications
- View the status of your awards

Secondary School Graduates
For scholarship purposes, please follow the instructions below if both the following apply:
- It has been two years or less since you were in secondary school
- You have not taken courses at any post-secondary institutions
GPA Based Scholarships (No Application Required)
To be considered for GPA based scholarships students must ensure a final transcript has been forwarded to Student Awards & Financial Aid by March 31st. *Transcripts sent to Undergraduate Admissions are not automatically forwarded to Student Awards & Financial Aid. It is the student's responsibility to ensure transcripts are sent to Student Awards & Financial Aid.
- Secondary school graduates with an admission average of 85% or above will be guaranteed a $1,000 entrance scholarship
- If a student does not send in a final transcript by March 31st, he/she will not be considered for GPA based scholarships at a later date.
Specific Criteria Scholarships (Application Required)

North Island Dual Admission Students
Students enrolled in the North Island Dual Admission Program will be eligible for entrance scholarships even though they do not have a UVic student number. UVic will assess the students for a GPA entrance scholarship based on their Grade 12 final marks. These marks will be provided by NIC.
Students can also apply for the Specific Criteria Scholarships by requesting an application from Donja Roberts, Scholarship Officer - dkrobert@uvic.ca - as the online application is only accessible with a UVic student number. Completed applications need to be emailed to Donja Roberts by the May 15th deadline.
If a student is awarded an entrance scholarship it will be deferred until the student is registered in 12 units in two consecutive terms of study at UVic. Please note, students are ineligible for any other UVic administered scholarships until their entrance scholarship is fully paid out.
