Individually supervised studies may be
undertaken during the periods
May 7 – June 29,
July 4 – August 20, or
May 7 – August 17
These studies may consist of Directed Studies courses or regular courses taken as individually supervised courses.
Under no circumstances will courses be allowed to extend beyond the terminal dates of June 29 or August 20, 2012.
Conditions
The following conditions apply to all individually supervised courses:
- The student must have an academic standing acceptable to the Faculty or Department, Division, or School in which the course is given
- Approval in writing must be given by each of the following in the order indicated:
- the Supervising faculty member (or members)
- the Chair of the Department or Division, or the Director of the Program
- the Dean of the Faculty, who requires a course outline for Directed Studies courses
- Written approvals as indicated above must be received by Undergraduate Records prior to the section start date ( i.e., Terms “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, etc ) See Summer Session Schedule
Undergraduate Students
- Obtain necessary forms from Undergraduate Records.
- If registered in the Faculty of Education or registered in any other Faculty but wishing to take a course offered by the Faculty of Education, take all forms to the Education Advising Centre.
If other than 2, above:
- consult with the instructor for written approval and, if the course is a Directed Studies course, obtain an outline of the course
- obtain the approval in writing of each of the other officials designated above
- Present the completed forms to Undergraduate Records before the deadline dates given in 3 above (Conditions).
Individually supervised study courses are subject to all fee regulations governing studies in the summer period. See Fee Regulations.
