CACE is an award winning professional development program for those helping adults learn. It may be taken entirely by distance education. Emphasis is on the translation of theory and knowledge into skilled practice. This flexible part-time program is for people who want to enhance their effectiveness as adult educators and trainers — in leadership, management, facilitation, and instructional design and technologies. CACE has been developed in association with similar programs at the University of Alberta, University of Manitoba, and University of Saskatchewan.[2005 national program award winner by the Canadian Association of University Continuing Education (CAUCE)]
Who typically enrolls?
Trainers, instructors, facilitators, program coordinators, administrators, instructional designers, career practitioners, human resource professionals and others working in non-profit agencies, the public or private sector - in education, business, and industry.
Which distance courses are offered?
Required courses are: Foundations of Adult Education, Facilitating Adult Learning, Program Planning in Adult Education, Adult Learning and Development.
Students must complete courses or workshops totalling 4.0 elective credit. Select courses (CACE elective credit: 1.0) from: Instructional Design in Adult Education, Introduction to Coaching and Counselling Skills in the Workplace, Training and Development, and Lifelong Learning, and Organizational Change Through Transformative Learning.
Or, select electives from half courses (CACE credit: 0.5): Strategic Marketing in Adult Education, Appreciative Inquiry, Instructional Skills for Teaching Adults Online and others. These electives are subject to change.
When are distance courses offered?
September to December, January to April, April to June.
