The Division of Continuing Studies provides a full complement of continuing education courses and programs in flexible learning formats. The programs are offered to facilitate access to the academic resources of the University of Victoria for adult part-time and nontraditional learners.
Credit courses and programs are offered off campus, by distance learning methods, and on campus in the evenings in collaboration with various UVic Faculties.
A range of diplomas and/or certificates is offered, such as Adult and Continuing Education, Business Administration, Canadian Studies for International Students, Computer Based Information Systems, Social Justice Studies, Cultural Resource Management, Environmental and Occupational Health, Foundations in Indigenous Fine Arts, French Language, Heritage Conservation Planning (Professional Specialization Certificate), Humanities, Intercultural Education and Training, Public Management, Public Relations, Restoration of Natural Systems, and others.
Courses offered by distance learning are listed at www.uvic.ca/timetable. Professional development programs, courses, seminars, and institutes within the diploma and certificate programs and in other specialized fields such as Health Sciences, Business, Management and Technology, and Social Sciences are available for professional and skill development.
The English Language Centre provides ESL programs for intermediate and advanced learners.
The Division offers a wide variety of community education programs in diverse formats, including travel study, residential programs, field trips, independent study materials and online courses. Its Conference Management offers conference registration services for organizations who choose Vancouver Island as the site for their academic and professional meetings.
