Greek and Roman Mythology
A study of Greek and Roman myths, in the context of the culture and thought of Greece and Rome. Literary and artistic sources will be used to establish and analyze the nature and function of myths in these cultures. Topics include the gods, heroes, local myths, political and cultural uses of myths, and the origins of the influence of Greek and Roman myths on European culture.
Note: Credit will be granted for only one of 200, CLAS 200.
Prerequisites: None; 100 recommended.
GRS 395 Units: 3.0 Schedule
Classical Studies Abroad
An extensive overview of monuments and material culture through participation in an on-site study trip abroad. Emphasis is placed on archeology, history and art.
Notes: - May be taken more than once for credit in different topics with permission of the department. Interested students should contact the department during the Fall Term.
- Off-campus Course. The course locations are Greece and Turkey.
Prerequisites: Permission of the department.
