WRIT 302 Units: 1.5 Schedule
Special Study in Craft
A workshop/seminar in which students will focus on particular elements of writing applicable to more than one genre.
Note: May be repeated once in different topics.
Prerequisites: Second-year standing.
WRIT 314 Units: 1.5 Schedule
Changing Perspectives
A lecture course surveying the different ways in which writers have tackled similar subject matter, taking its material from film scripts and/or English literature and other literature in translation.
Note: Credit will be granted for only one of 314, CW 314. May be repeated once in different content.

Special Genres Lecture
An examination of craft in a particular genre, such as nature writing, travel narrative, the prose poem or childrens literature.

Recurrent Themes in Film
A lecture/seminar teaching the craft of writing about film through study of selected directors, film trends, and national cinemas.

Major Writing Portfolio
The creation of an original creative writing portfolio in one of the following genres: poetry (30-50 pages), creative nonfiction (60-120 pages), fiction (60-120 pages), a stage play (60-100 pages), a film script (60-90 pages) or a production project with script/manuscript in one of the above genres.
