Admission Average Cutoffs

Due to enrollment management restrictions, the University does not guarantee that students who meet the minimum admission requirements as published in the academic calendar will be admitted to any faculty, program or course. In cases where the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number that can be accommodated, the University reserves the right to set enrollment limits for a faculty or program and to establish admission criteria (“cutoffs”) beyond the minimum published requirement.

ADMISSION AVERAGE REQUIRED BY STUDENTS COMPLETING ANY CANADIAN HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Official early admission cutoffs are determined in early May each year. Below are the minimum admission averages required to be considered from a Canadian secondary school, as well as the most recently established cutoffs:

ADMISSION AVERAGE REQUIRED BY TRANSFER STUDENTS

Students from universities or university transfer programs in Canada who have a GPA of at least 2.00 can be considered for admission to a number of programs at the University of Victoria, while other programs have a higher minimum for consideration.  In addition, many programs have specific course prerequisites and additional selection criteria.  You are advised to check all admission requirements carefully as well as consult with the program’s website for further details.

Below are the cutoffs (on the UVic 9-point scale) that were used for Fall 2012 entry:
