US High School/American Curriculum

We welcome applications from US high school students and others studying at international high schools offering  the American curriculum.  Admission requirements listed below are the minimum for consideration to programs with direct entry from secondary school.


Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation from a regionally-accredited high school.
  • 14 or more college preparatory courses (see subject requirements below)
  • Minimum 3.00 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) in grades 9-12 is required for consideration to any program (the actual average required for admission may be higher than the published minimum due to limits on enrolment in any given year).
  • SAT scores (of at least 1760), composite ACT scores (of at least 26) and other supplementary information may also be considered if submitted.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.50 along with all required subjects guarantees admission to programs that do not have additional selection criteria.

Notes:

  1. Supplementary application is required for admission to the Gustavson School of Business.  Please refer to www.business.uvic.ca for further information.
  2. Two years of Physics (one at the senior level) are required for admission to Faculty of Engineering programs (BENG and BSENG).  AP Physics and IB Physics are acceptable courses.  See Faculty of Science column in the chart for Computer Science prerequisites. 
  3. Applicants to the School of Music, Department of Theatre and Department of Visual Arts are also assessed through a selection process (audition, portfolio, or questionnaire).  Consult the Faculty of Fine Arts website at www.finearts.uvic.ca for further information.
  4. Supplementary application is required for admission to Child and Youth Care.  Please refer to http://www.cyc.uvic.ca/ for further information.
  5. Supplementary application is required for admission to Health Information Science.  Please refer to http://hinf.uvic.ca for further information.

* Must include at least one (1) laboratory science.

+ All programs (except Humanities) may substitute one language option with one fine arts option.
