Three actions are available to you
Establish Credit
Tick the "Establish Credit" circle beside "Select an Action".
APPLICABILITY OF CREDIT
Select one of the four circles to best describes the nature or applicability of the credit being established. You may wish to search the Online Transfer Guide to determine if there is any previously existing transfer credit offered by your institution for the course in question.
"There is NO previously existing credit" is most often used when the Sending Institution course is new, or when UVic is establishing credit for the course for the first time (regardless of the Sending Institution's "first offered" date).
"This credit REPLACES ALL all previously existing credit" will result an any existing entries in the BC Transfer Guide being removed and replaced by the new information being provided.
"This credit REPLACES any existing credit as of the Start Date shown below" will result in the new transfer credit
information replacing any data in the BC Transfer Guide, effective as of the Start Date provided. Any existing (in the Transfer Guide) credit in effect prior to the Start Date given will be given an End Date of the month prior to the Start Date for the new credit.
"This credit is IN ADDITION TO any existing credit as of the Start Date shown below" will result in the new transfer credit information being added to any data in the BC Transfer Guide, effective as of the Start Date provided. Any existing (in the Transfer Guide) credit in effect prior to the Start Date given will be given an End Date of the month prior to the Start Date for the new/additional credit.
START DATE
Enter the date when UVic transfer credit will become (or became) effective/available. It indicates that credit is available if a student takes the Sending Institution course as of, or subsequent to, your Start Date.
The Start Date normally corresponds to the Sending Institutions "Date first offered for Transfer Credit in current form/content," which is provided by the Sending Institution in the upper part of the Form.
When your Start Date does not correspond to the Sending Institution's Date first Offered, it is usually because your UVic has a policy regarding backdating transfer credit.
Your Start Date SHOULD NOT be the date you complete the form, or the date your evaluator completed the evaluation.
Format is YYYY/mm format, such as "2001/09" which would indicate September 2001.
END DATE (optional)
Enter the date when UVic transfer credit will terminate (if known) or terminated.
Usually, this field is left blank.
When used, the date must be (obviously) later than the Start Date provided above, and typically corresponds to the end of a semester, e.g. "2003/12" to indicate December 2003.
Format is YYYY/mm format, such as "2001/09" which would indicate September 2001.
CREDIT DETAILS
Enter your institution's transfer credit, as you would expect to see it in the BC Transfer Guide.
Be sure to use your correct prefix or prefixes. Precede any prefixes with your Institution code to ensure clarity. Be sure to indicate appropriate credit weights. Enter specific course numbers before the credit weight.
Example:
UVic ENGL 115 (1.5)
Enter unassigned level information after the credit weight.
Example: UVic ENGL (1.5) 100 lev.
There are many other variations. Study the BC Transfer Guide for additional examples.
This field is subject to editing by the BC Transfer Guide Coordinator for reasons of maintaining clarity of data presentation in the Guide.
