Reregistering (Returning Students)

Provided that academic eligibility to continue is attained, UVic students who maintain continuous registration in the same Faculty/program are normally automatically authorized to reregister in courses for the upcoming academic session.

Students who have not registered or who withdrew from the most recent Winter Session are not automatically authorized to reregister and must submit an Undergraduate Reregistration Application. In addition, those who are requesting a change of Faculty must normally* submit an Undergraduate Reregistration Application. Review the application for more information on who must submit the application, deadlines, fees, frequently asked questions, and who to contact if you have questions.

Check your record on My page to see your status for the desired Session, and if authorized for reregistration, your registration access date and time.

Important Notes Regarding Reregistration:

Faculty Change
If you are applying for a professional or limited entry program (e.g. Social Work, Education, Visual Arts) complete the appropriate program application. Some Faculties require notification/approval of a student's withdrawal from the original program prior to consideration of a Faculty change. Check the Calendar for application deadlines and entry points.

If you have already registered or have been authorized for the session in your current Faculty, no reregistration fee will be assessed on submission of the Undergraduate Reregistration Application.

* Do not submit an Undergraduate Reregistration Application if you are applying to the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Education (Elementary programs), Faculty of Education (Secondary Post Degree Professional Program), or programs offered by the School of Physical Education. Separate application packages are available directly from those Faculties/programs.

Program Change
To change your formally declared program, initiate the change through your Advising Centre. You will be authorized to reregister in your current program until a change is approved.

Required Documents
Official transcripts from all college, university, and other post secondary institutions attended since last registered, including withdrawals, incomplete, or failed/repeat studies, are required. For some programs, admission decisions will not be made until all transcripts are received. Normally, failure to disclose attendance elsewhere, and to submit, in a timely fashion, official transcripts of courses taken elsewhere will result in suspension for a minimum of one year.

Visiting students must submit a current Letter of Permission from their home institution.

Inactive for Three Years or More - If you do not reregister at UVic for a period of three years or more, your personal paper file maintained in Undergraduate Admissions and Records, including official transcripts of studies done elsewhere, will be destroyed. If you apply to resume studies at UVic, you may be required to arrange for official transcripts of previous studies completed elsewhere to be issued to Undergraduate Records. Your official UVic academic record is retained indefinitely.

There is a minimum processing time of 5 - 10 business days. You will be contacted once you are eligible for registration.
