Checking Your Registration Date
All eligible new and returning students will be sent an email advising them to check their registration date and time through My page. Your registration date and time can be found by logging into My page and clicking on the following: Student Services Collections (left side-bar) > Registration tab > Registraton Status. If you do not have an active email account, you will need to access https://netlink.uvic.ca/ to apply for both a UVic email and NetLink ID.

Registration and Waitlist Limits for Undergraduate and Law Students
Effective Summer 2013, undergraduate and Law students may be waitlisted and registered in a Combined Limit. For most undergraduate students this combined limit will be 10.5 units (10.0 units for Law students); 9.0 units is the normal Maximum Registered Units Permitted (8.5 units for Law students) and an additional 1.5 units is given to allow waitlist flexibility.
Some section types (e.g. tutorials and labs) do not have unit values and will not contribute towards your Combined Limit.
For example:
Example 1:
| Combined Limit: |
10.5 |
| Current Registered Units: |
6.0 |
| Current Waitlisted Units: |
0.0 |
| Remaining Units: |
waitlisted/registered 4.5 with a maximum of 3.0 registered |
Example 2:
| Combined Limit: |
10.5 |
| Current Registered Units: |
7.5 |
| Current Waitlisted Units: |
1.5 |
| Remaining Units: |
1.5 (either registered or waitlisted) |
Example 3:
| Combined Limit: |
10.5 |
| Current Registered Units: |
9.0 |
| Current Waitlisted Units: |
1.5 |
| Remaining Units: |
0.0 (must drop one course before adding a new course) |
Example 4 (Law students only):
| Combined Limit: |
10.0 |
| Current Registered Units: |
8.5 |
| Current Waitlisted Units: |
1.5 |
| Remaining Units: |
0.0 (must drop one course before adding a new course) |
Once you’ve reached your Combined Limit, you won’t be able to add more registered or waitlisted units. You will need to drop a course to be able to add any more units (registered or waitlisted). See example 3
Only one of each section type: lecture, lab or tutorial, can be waitlisted for courses with multiple components. For example, BIOL 190A has 3 lecture sections A01 – A03 and 22 lab sections B01 – B22. You can waitlist for only one lecture section and one lab section.
If you are waitlisted for a course and receive a registration offer, you must accept the offer by the given deadline or you will be dropped from the waitlist.
It is your responsibility to check for any time conflicts that may arise during registration. You will not be prompted if a waitlisted course has a time conflict with a registered course.
For more information, please contact Registration Help at reghelp@uvic.ca.
Cancelled Sections and Time/Location Changes
If a section is cancelled due to low enrolment, departmental staffing considerations, or had a time or day change, students with valid UVic NetLink email accounts may be sent notification.
Email Class List Messages
Instructors or departmental administrators may send an email message to selected students on a class list who have valid UVic NetLink accounts.
Full Section
If the section you requested is full you could search for another section that will fit into your timetable or you may choose to go on a waitlist if available.
To search for other sections that are open select Look up Classes from the Class Registration menu. When you have obtained information about alternate sections, or if you have to select a new course, you may wish to interrupt your registration and re-work your timetable. The sections in which you have already registered will be retained. When you have made alternate selections that fit your timetable, access My page to continue your registration.
